Artist Statement:

I am a bird. A product of a place which holds no value to the untrained eye, but will stay with me always. Flying high above, I see the landscape change. I am looking at golden wheat, yet not seeing it. The ground turns and twists and forms shapes and lines of a place I once knew. The figures of three generations who, from them, this place I once called home grew. Memories pour out of a long untouched place within me, like pulling sentimental possessions from an old suitcase. The reflection in the mirror tells me all that I love about this place from the memories etched into my features, but shows me the bird that I am, in full flight, ready to leave here; to where I do not know…my wings may leave, but never my heart.
